Recently bought this alpaca/merino blend yarn (it was produced by a local alpaca farm).  Thinking of using it to create my first design.  Each skein (there are two) is approximately 220 yds. in length.

Any ideas on what I should make?

I just love the technique for creating the edge of this cardigan - so clean, so professional, so worth the time and effort.

OK, so now you’ve made your new scarf, here’s 15 great ways to tie it! Numbers 3, 9 and 12 are my favourites but I think I will have a go at tying most of these. Of course, you will need different sizes for some of these, but scarves are such a great way of dressing up an outfit so why wouldn’t you want multiple!?

Name: Clockwork Scarf

Designer: Stephen West

Yarn: Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light

Skeins: 2 (one in the Tern colorway, and the other in Silver Fox)

Needle: US 5

This scarf was super easy and quick to knit.  I wish it were a little wider (it probably could grow with some more intensive blocking), so I think if I were to knit it again I would do so with larger needles (US 6 instead of US 5).  The yarn was super soft and stretchy with no pilling.

2. Hourglass Baby Blanket

3. Olive Top (waiting on the pattern)

I love working on surprises!!!

Name: Aidez Cardigan

Designer: Cirilia Rose/Berroco

Yarn: Cascade Yarns Ecological Wool

Skeins: 2

Needle: US 10

I finished knitting this cardigan this morning, and I think it will be a perfect addition to my wardrobe now that the temperatures are starting to plummet.  The pattern was easy to follow and I didn’t make any adjustments.  My only advice is that anyone interested in knitting this pattern should size up, especially if you plan on wearing long-sleeved tops underneath.  The sleeves are just the tiniest bit too close for comfort.

As far as the yarn is concerned, I loved working with Cascade’s Ecological Wool.  Not only is it priced really, really well, but a skein or two also goes very, very far.

Finally got the yarn - madelinetosh tosh merino light in silverfox and tern -  for my friend’s shawl.  Decided to take the advice of a few people in response to Question No. 1. I think that a nursing shawl - or really a shawl of any kind - would be a wonderful gift for her on the birth of her first child.
